Hybrid Car and Fuel Saving

Hybrid cars are also known as green cars. Green cars release less harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, which is why it is getting more popular among the consumers. Normal cars that run on petrol has a higher emission of carbon dioxide thus increase the carbon footprint on Earth and pollution.

Hybrid cars have many advantages. Even though hybrid cars can be slightly more expensive other cars, the benefits are more satifying in long terms. Not only there is saving from many aspects, but the most important is that you get to save the environment. By purchasing green cars such as cars that run on electricity will reduce the carbon footprint on Earth and help to conserve the nature.

Other benefits of purchasing a hybrid car include road tax deduction and less fuel tax. These are the rules imposed in UK. For example, if you have a hybrid car that has low emission of not more than 100g/km, you don’t even have to pay road tax. If your car runs on electricity, you don’t even have to pay for fuel tax. These are the benefits of having a hybrid car in UK.

To save more money, it is best to invest in a hybrid car so that you get to save more money in long terms and not short terms. Help to save the environment for a better future.

Air Conditioning and Car Windows

"Don’t use too much air conditioning in cars."

This is what you might have learnt when you are searching for ways to save fuel especially in times when fuel is more expensive than water. The reason behind this statement is because air conditioning can decrease fuel efficiency up to 12%. If you are driving at slow speed, you can consider to open the car windows for fresh air.

Air conditioning use more fuel than anything else and if you are not in need of using air conditioning, the best solution is to turn it off and you will be surprised at how much you can save by just doing that.

"Close the car windows."

This is another important way to save fuel. Ok, so just now it is mentioned that you can open up the car windows when you are driving at slow speed, this time, when you are driving fast, shut the windows tight. This is to make sure less drag. The more drag needed to move your vehicle, the more fuel is consumed so think about the fuel being wasted when you are speeding especially on high ways.

Shutting the windows will help to decrease the drag and save more fuel. After all, fuel is so expensive, more expensive than water. As such, little details count when it comes to saving money on fuel.

Running Out of Fuel

Have you heard about how motorists run out of fuel in the middle of the road. Well apparently thinking that they can reach their destination even when the fuel indicator is showing empty, they tried to make it to the destination until they realised that they had run out of fuel and stranded in the middle of the road.

The high fuel cost is the reason why these motorists trying so hard to minimise the usage of fuel and trying to use the last drop of fuel before filling in.

Young drivers are more likely to run out of fuel according to a survey. This is because they have limited fund for fuel. Thinking that they can run on the last drop of fuel and no enough money are the main reasons why most motorists are stranded on the road.

According to the expert,

""Drivers need to remember that £40-worth of fuel will get them one third less distance than it did the same time last year."

With more motorists running out of fuel, there might have been more accidents as well since the motorists are stranded in all sorts of roads and conditions.

Always remember safety first and if you need to save on fuel, use other ways and definitely not waiting for the fuel tank to dry up before filling in more fuel.

Tires Can Help Reduce Gas Consumption

Tires are very important for vehicles. Different vehicles need different sets of tires and do you know that choosing the right tires is important to make sure that the gas consumption is low rather than high?

Using the wrong type of tires can increase gas consumption thus more money for gas. I am sure you want to save more money on gas so the best thing to do is to get an expert to analyze the type of tires you need for your vehicle.

You might be thinking that spending too much on tires is a waste of money. The truth is spending more money on tires can guarantee you high quality tires and in return you can save a significant amount of money on gas. This will help you save more money in the long run. So, look into the future and think about long term rather than short term.

These days, the tires being produced are more durable and more efficient when it comes to cost effectiveness. You pay a slightly higher amount in return for a set of tires that are highly durable for longer lasting and more efficient for gas saving.

If you are always travellling, getting tires check up would be best before you leave to make sure that the air pressure is not too much or too little and the condition of the tires are excellent. This will help you save further amount of money on gas and maintenance. You can avoid accidents as well when your car is properly functioning at its best.

Look out for workshops that offer great quality tires when you want to change your tires. Cheap tires is not the solution when it comes to saving money. So, don’t be afraid to spend more on tires in return to save more on gas.

How To Reduce Fuel Consumption Up to 75%

This is interesting. According to LowTechMagazine, we can reduce the fuel consumption by a huge percentage of 75% if we cut half of the average speed. I think that this is by far the best news we have heard about ways to save fuel and save money. However, what is the science behind this statement?

The answer is simple. A quote from them will give a general idea of how this works:

"Engineers treat velocity as a non-variable, while in fact it is the most powerful factor to save a really huge amount of energy – with just one stroke, at minimal cost, and without the need for new technology. Lower speeds combined with more energy efficient engines, better aerodynamics and lighter materials could make fuel savings even larger."

So, as long as you keep your speed low, you will be able to save more fuel.

Here is another statement about how speed can use up more fuel:

"The fastest car in the world reaches 10 times the speed of a normal vehicle cruising the highway, but it consumes 550 times more fuel."

Now that you have know the secret, hopefully you can implement this step in your driving style so you can save more fuel, save more money and save the environment. It is a three-in-one package for all.

For more details about it, check out LowTechMagazine.

Hybrid Cars – Less Fuel and Tax Break

There are many gas saving tips available but apart from saving money on fuel, you can save money on tax as well when you purchase a hybrid car. In US, starting from 1st January 2006, those who have purchased a hybrid car after this date is eligible to get a tax break. This is to encourage more people to be environmental friendly by embracing the ‘green’ car.
A hybrid vehicle is defined as powered by both an internal combustion engine and a rechargeable battery. However, most of the current hybrid vehicles qualify for the tax credit.
If you want to know whether you car is eligible to receive the tax break, you can consult the car manufacturer or the local dealer. The tax is deducted from the total amount of federal tax you owed. Therefore, it will reduce your tax obligation and help you save a lot of money.
What are the examples of hybrid cars available?
1. Chevrolet Malibu and Tahoe Hybrid.
2. Ford Escape Hybrid.
3. GMC Yukon Hybrid.
4. Honda Civic CVT.
5. Mazda Tribute.
6. Nissan Altima Hybrid.
These are the examples of cars that can help you save between $0-$3000 depends on the model and the time of purchase.
So getting a hybrid car is not only for fuel saving but for the tax break as well. This way, you get to save more than you can think of.

Save on Fuel, Save on Maintenance

Some people only care about saving money on fuel. However, do you know that you can save money on car maintenance as well. While your car is using fuel to generate the power to move, your car needs to maintain properly to ensure proper functioning. Therefore, perhaps once in a month you would send in your car to the local mechanic for regular check and repair. Then, you will receive a bill that might send you to the hospital for heart attack.

So, how can you avoid such a situation?

1. Get a Newer Car When Buying Second Hand.

This rule is very important. When you want to buy a car, of course the best solution is to get a new car but not everyone can afford a new car so second hand cars would be the choices. Therefore when you choose a second hand car, go for one that is newer than the others. Newer cars often requires little maintenance for the first few years. If you pick a really old car, you might have to spend more for the maintenance.

2. Subscribe to An Excellent Car Insurance.

Excellent car insurance means insurance that will cover for your car maintenance repair especially if you have an accident. This way, you can save even more on the maintenance fee.

3.  Do It Yourself.

If you have some basic knowledge about cars, repair yourself if you know how rather than sending it to your mechanic. This way you only have to spend on the tools. Tools are cheaper than the mechanic’s fee.

4.  Use Your Car The Way It Should Be.

For example, if you are supposed to stop at the red light, STOP!

DO NOT attempt to speed to pass the red light as it will damage your car and cost more for maintenance.

5.  Wash You Car.

You might laugh at this but if you truly understand, you would not. The reason why you should wash your car is because washing your car will clean away the dirt and mud so that it can prevent corrosion and increase your car body’s life.

$500 Free Gas – Who Doesn’t Want This?

This seemed to be a great deal:

Spend $999.99 or more at the store, and get $500 in free gas.

This is advertised by Tweeter, an electronic store featuring Home Theatre and TVs.

However, there is a catch and only MousePrint.org can detect.

Apparently, there is a hidden catch and you can only find it if you read carefully in between the lines of these:

"With any purchase of $999.00 or more, customer will receive a Gas Redemption Voucher entitling the customer to receive $500 in free gas. Customer will be required to pay a $5 refundable registration fee and to submit $100 in receipts for gas purchases each month for 20 months to receive a $25 gas card per month. Gas Redemption Voucher is transferable. One Gas Redemption Voucher per household."

Now, maybe only a handful of you readers understand this statement. This statement is the fine print in the catalog of Tweeter and when you translate it into a more understandable words, it become:

"You have to buy $2000 worth of gasoline over a 20 month period, in increments of $100 per month, in order to receive a monthly giftcard worth $25."

So, do you want to get involved in such a program? This is one program designed to lure the unsuspicious customers into buying more electrical items so they can get the so-called $500 free gas without knowing the little details of the transaction. Beware and be a smart consumer.

In times like this everyone is trying to take advantage of other people. As much as you want to save money on fuel and gas, be sure to catch the little fine prints before you join any program that claims to offer free gas or fuel. There is no free lunch in this world.

Check out MousePrint.org for more information on other scams.

Car Producers Update

Basically, every car producers have their own target of what type of cars that will be out in the market soon. Surprisingly, all the companies are trying to produce something more economy and environmental friendly. This is indeed a great move to help us, the consumers to save due to high living cost and to help save the dying earth.

Matthew C. Keegan has an interesting descriptions of what these car companies intend to do in the future, for better or worse?

General Motors – As the automaker with the most sales as well as the steepest losses, GM is scrambling to change its line up across its eight brands quickly. Expect the Hummer brand to be gone by the time 2011 rolls around, leaving GM with seven brands to work on. The biggest changes will be with its quintessentially American brand, Chevrolet, where the plug-in hybrid Volt will be on the scene, the 45 mpg Cruze will replace the Cobalt, and as yet unnamed Scion like vehicle will also be introduced. Expect some of these changes to spread to Buick, Pontiac, and Saturn.

Toyota – Who would have thought that Toyota would ever be so pummeled? No, the automaker isn’t racking up multi-billion dollar losses, but their fleet is too top heavy with trucks and SUVs. Expect Toyota to continue its hybrid dominance, spreading this technology across all model lines.

Ford – Ford has already tipped its hand where the automaker is going, with plans to introduce six European models to the US market. The Fiesta will lead the way followed by an all-new Focus. Expect both Mercury and Lincoln to get some kind of compact cars and get used to the Escape being the Ford brand’s best selling SUV.

Nissan – Like Toyota, Nissan needs to concentrate on smaller cars. Unlike Toyota, their sales are doing quite well. Nissan plans to beat GM to the market with its own Chevy Volt type vehicle, perhaps as early as Spring 2010.

Chrysler – The smallest of the Big 3 automakers, Chrysler needs a lot of help to shift production to smaller cars. Fortunately, the automaker will be tapping its relationship with Nissan to get some of that done, but it’ll probably take at least one Chinese automaker, Chery Automotive, to help the company deliver a truly small car to the US market.

Honda – Recently passing Chrysler to take over the #4 spot in the US market, Honda’s best offering will be here very soon. The Honda Insight, a five passenger hybrid car, will go on sale early in 2009. Priced $3000 less than the Prius, the Insight will deliver 60 mpg and be the leading edge of a number of small, economical models that will dominate Honda within two years time.

Seems to be great move rather than bad move but all we can do is hope that there will be more fuel efficient cars that can help us save fuel so that we don’t have to spend too much on fuel no matter the fuel price is high or low.

Your Car, The Pathway To Save Fuel

Car owners must have some knowledge about car when it comes to owning a car because when there is something wrong with the car, sometimes you can fix it yourself or else you will have to send in to the workshop.

However, there are some ways to save fuel that involve your car maintenance. As such, I would suggest those who know nothing about car to gear up in the mechanical knowledge so you can fix something simple rather than spending more money for repair.

There are four ways you can make your car to function better and save more fuel.

1.  You need to get oil changes regularly. This is to make sure low fuel consumption.

2.  You need to check the air pressure frequently. This is important to make sure fuel efficiency.

3.  Your car will need to have regular tune ups. Tune ups help by increasing the car performance.

4.  Make sure you check the air filter and change it when it is clogged.

These are four very simple ways to save more fuel and have better performance on the car. You can do it yourself if you know how to do it. If you can do it yourself, you can even save more money but you need to make sure that you really know how to do the steps before trying it out.
